Over the next few months we're presenting fresh recordings of tunes from our first three albums. You've already heard "Asi Paré" and "Adieu Lacheben," now here's one more from our very first CD, Another Hot Night In February (2003), Jelly Roll Morton's "Milneburg Joys."
As we prepared to start tracking in the studio on May 16, tuba man Matt Perrine and drummer Simon Lott began stretching out on a groove to warm up. They came up with a tasty vamp based on a diminished chord so we decided to add Mark on banjo, use it for the intro and then tack it on to the tune's opening fanfare. After the vamp I play the verse, Aurora takes the chorus and then Charlie solos over the changes. For Aurora's solo we go back to the diminished chord then I play the head and we end it with the fanfare.
We hope you dig it! Happy summer and thanks as always for your support.
